The ACTRFS Volunteers In Some Precarious Positions!

Here are some more shots of our volunteers assisting the ACT Fire and Rescue with their training.  Thankfully these are all simulated scenarios and one's they will never find themselves in for real!

ACTRFS Shave Team Hits Their $25k Target!

After a month of fundraising, the 10 brave ACT Rural Fire Service volunteers from 7 different brigades hit their huge target of $25,000 on the last day! 

With 10 days to go to the last group getting shaved, the team was apprehensive whether the target was too high, but with a huge push by the team, they raised $10k in 10 days!.

Guises Creek doing an impromptu vehicle recovery training session.

Guises Creek CAFS unit became bogged whilst attending the Tuggeranong Markets over the weekend. 

The vehicle was being driven on higher ground when the rear wheels slowly sank in the mud.  Rob from ESA workshops brought out the ACT Fire Brigade W83 recovery vehicle and winched the tanker out with the assistance of the GCRK crew (who were rather muddy after the ordeal).

This is the second incident where an ACTRFS vehicle has been bogged and a timely reminder to all our drivers that the conditions are still very wet below the surface!

Tidbinbilla Brigade's new station is taking shape and nearing opening

The much anticipated Tidbinbilla station is almost ready to be handed over to the Brigade.  The walls are up, the roof is on and just waiting for the Tidbinbilla units to fill the bays.

March 2012 ACT Flooding Event

As most would be aware, the ACTRFS supported the ACT SES during the heavy rains and flooding throughout the ACT.  This was a prolonged event that lasted over several days with crews working around the clock.  A total of 941 calls for assistance was received from Tuesday 28th February through to Monday 5th March.
