Franklin Burn With ACTRFS Volunteers & Parks Saturday 8th Jan

A hazard reduction burn was run by the Parks Brigade to reduce the long grasses that have grown over the past couple of months.  A good and productive day was had by all with the burn achieving its purpose of reducing the amount of ground fuels in Franklin. Volunteers and salaried TAMS staff all agreed that it was a good opportunity for the teams to work together and get to know each other better. It's great to see both groups working together so effectively.

Don't forget, please submit your images of any ACTRFS activity to

The Gungahlin crew ensuring the grass fire doesn't spread out of the containment lines.

As the fire increases in intensity the smoke column slowly builds.

The after affect of the hazard reduction burn occuring with the fuel content being greatly reduced.
